The Majority Leader of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Mr Olatunji Oshati, has dispelled a report that the House has been engulfed in crisis as a result of a plan to change the leadership of the assembly.

A social media report stated that some members of the House have passed a vote of no confidence in the speaker of the Assembly, Mr Olamide Oladiji, following an allegation of gross misconduct.

The report added that the aggrieved members had commenced an arrangement to impeach the speaker.

The majority leader, in a statement issued on Friday, said the House was still intact and there was no crisis in the Assembly.

Oshati said, “There is no crisis in the Assembly. We are still together performing our legislative duties for the development of the state

“Also, there is no impeachment move against Mr Speaker, Rt Hon Olamide Oladiji and there is never a topic of discussion at either the plenary sittings nor any of the house parliamentary meetings.”

“I want to assure the people of Ondo State that the House is committed to carrying out people-centered legislation that must ensure the general interest of our people.”

The House leader maintained that democracy would be regarded as healthy when “we sometimes disagree to agree. However, the reason for the disagreement should always be reasonable. ”

He also advised journalists to always balance their stories before dissemination in order not to cause unnecessary tension as the ethics of their profession dictate.
