No CAN chairman was beheaded in Adamawa – Police

The Adamawa State Police Command has denied social media claims that the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state was beheaded by terrorists.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, described the viral post as false, malicious, and aimed at causing panic and religious tension among residents.

He said the post, credited to a Facebook account named “Lionman Lioni,” was completely unfounded.

According to Nguroje, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has dismissed the report, confirming that no such incident has been recorded anywhere in Adamawa State.

The police spokesman urged members of the public to disregard the false claim and to always verify information from credible sources before sharing it online.

He also assured residents that the police are committed to maintaining peace and order in the state.

“The Command has already launched an investigation to identify and bring to justice those behind this misleading post,” the statement added.

Recall that a user named Lionman Lioni on Saturday on Facebook wrote; “Adamawa CAN chairman has been beheaded by Fulani terrorists in Adamawa State Nigeria.”
