Court Remands Men Who Defile Daughters in Prison
Two men, Olaitan Adewoye and Godwin Akpan, who allegedly defiled their biological daughters, aged 12 months and six years respectively, have been remanded in prison custody.

The crimes according to investigations were committed in the residences of the victims.
It was learnt that suspects were later caught and arrested by the Police at Gender section of the Police Command, Lagos.

It was gathered that the 36-year old Adewoye reportedly defiled his 12-month-old baby in his house at Balale Street, Opeki in Abesan Estate of Ipaja, Lagos. While Akpan had engaged his own 6-year-old daughter in his house at Modupe Street, off Balogun, Ikeja, Lagos, by inserting his fingers into her private part. They were both arrested after the information leaked and the victims were rescued from them for protective custody.
Akpan was said to have gone to his village in Akwa Ibom State, taken the 6-year-old victim, brought her to Lagos and started tempering with her private part by inserting fingers into it.
It was reported that the victim was taken to their neighbour’s place by her father while going to work. Police said that when Akpan returned from work in the evening and went to their female neighbour to take her home, the little girl refused. The little girl told their neighbour that her father was abusing her by inserting his finger into her private part.
The matter was reported to the Police at Gender section and Akpan was arrested and charged before the Ogba Magistrates’ Court for sexual assault.

He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Mr. Christopher John, did not oppose his bail but informed the court that the victim was the biological daughter of the suspect.
The magistrate, Mr. Peter E. Nwaka, granted him bail in the sum of N400,000 with two sureties in like sum.
In the same court, Adewoye was said to have opened the pant of his 12-month-old baby and abused her before the mother of the victim caught him and handed him over to the police.
The court denied him bail and ordered him to be remanded in prison custody.
Both matters were adjourned till 26 June, 2018
