Adamawa police nab 72 suspects, charge 57 to court

The Adamawa State Police Command has nabbed 72 suspects in the last three months and charged 57 to court.

The command said Friday that it is still investigating 15 others preparatory to being charged.

The state Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, briefing newsmen at the state Police headquarters in Yola, listed the offences for which the arrests were made as kidnapping (nine cases), armed robberies (seven cases), culpable homicide (22), rape and sexual offences (18), theft (nine), Shilla Boys gangsterism (four) and abductions (three cases).

The police commissioner recalled a particularly historic case of the abduction of 13 children by child traffickers who took the children to Anambra State where they were sold to a receiver.

The commissioner who recalled that the children were rescued and brought back to Adamawa State where they were reunited with their families, added that the two women found to be implicated were arrested and are currently being prosecuted.

He disclosed that for the three months under review, the Adamawa State Command recovered seven vehicles and 25 rustled cows.
