Speaking in an interview with newsmen on Monday, Achida said the former governor had no independent political base, claiming that he rose to power through the influence of political godfathers, particularly Senator Aliyu Wamakko.
He insisted that Tambuwal’s political future was bleak.
“No Abuja alliance, no media propaganda, no recycled coalition can revive a politician whose only legacy is propaganda and a collapsed state,” the APC chairman said.
Tambuwal, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, is weighing options as he is part of the coalition of the African Democratic Congress planning to oust President Bola Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State from power.
But Achida described Tambuwal’s eight-year administration as an era of “stagnation, abandoned projects and asset stripping.”
He accused the former governor of refusing to formally hand over to his successor in 2023, allegedly to avoid being held accountable for leaving behind a state riddled with incomplete projects.
“Tambuwal’s actions were calculated to frustrate the present administration,” he said.
Achida, however, commended Aliyu for what he called prudent financial management, noting that “salaries are paid on or before the 21st of every month, the new minimum wage has been implemented, and major infrastructure projects are ongoing, all without borrowing.
“Governor Ahmed Aliyu is focused on the welfare of the people, not looting their resources.”
When contacted, a top aide to Tambuwal, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the allegations as baseless.
He promised to respond to all the statements after due consultation with the former governor.
