Two people have died and 12 others were injured after a truck crashed into a public gathering in Jikamshi village, Musawa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Security analyst, Zagazola Makama shared the news in a post on X on Thursday.
According to him, the accident happened on Tuesday night at about 8:45 p.m. when a Mitsubishi Canter truck loaded with sugarcane lost control.
“The driver, who is now on the run, veered off the road and rammed into the gathering, causing multiple casualties.
“Police officers from Musawa Division quickly arrived at the scene, secured the area, and moved the victims to Musawa General Hospital,” Makama wrote.
“Two victims, identified as Mustapha Umar, 38, and Mani Salisu, 34, were confirmed dead by a medical doctor. Twelve others are still receiving treatment, while some with minor injuries have been discharged.”
Authorities have launched a search for the fleeing driver as investigations into the crash continue.
