An Egyptian national, Mohammed Saleh, has died after reportedly slumping at a hotel in the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

It was learnt on Sunday from a statement posted on X by security expert Zazazola Makama.

According to him, the incident happened on Friday night while the 56-year-old was having dinner with three other people at the Abuja Intercontinental Hotel.

He stated that the hotel’s security supervisor, Francis Yusuf, reported the case to the Wuse Police Division.

He wrote, “Sources told Zagazola Makama that the deceased, identified as Mohammed Saleh, 56, slumped while having dinner with three others at the Abuja Intercontinental Hotel, Wuse Zone 4, on Friday night.

“The hotel’s security supervisor, Francis Yusuf, reported the matter to the police, Wuse Division, at about 9:24 p.m. on Friday.”

While quoting sources, Makama stated that Saleh was rushed to the King’s Care Hospital, Wuse Zone 4, before being referred to the Wuse District Hospital, where a doctor confirmed him dead.

He also disclosed that the corpse had been deposited in the hospital’s morgue for autopsy.

“The police have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident,” he added.

There have been cases of foreigners’ deaths being recorded by the police, particularly in Lagos State.

The cause of the death is either said to be natural or connected to health conditions.

It was reported in March that the Lagos State Police Command launched an investigation into the death of an 80-year-old Colombian national, Quesada Alfonso, whose lifeless body was discovered at a hotel in the FESTAC Town area of the state.

The immediate past command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident, said policemen in the area were alerted to the discovery of the deceased’s body in his room at about 3:30 pm.

According to him, the late foreigner had been staying in the hotel for the last four months.
