Adamawa Police arrest 3 on wanted list for highway robberies

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers on wanted list over robberies on the Demsa-Numan highway.

The Command said in a press release signed by police image maker, SP Suleiman Nguroje that the suspects had “long been on the Command’s wanted list for their involvement in a series of violent crimes” along the indicated highway, a short stretch of the Numan-Yola road about 50 kilometres south of Yola.

The command said in the release, Wednesday afternoon that the arrest was in response to credible intelligence received earlier on Sunday, August 3, 2025, immediately after which, operatives attached to the State Intelligence Department (SID), in collaboration with local security outfits, trailed and arrested the suspects.

The first two suspects arrested are identified as Hamadu Saidu (22 years old) and Ali Hamman (25 years old), both of Sabewa Ngwallam, Numan Local Government Area.

“During preliminary investigation, the suspects confessed to several armed robbery activities and mounting of illegal roadblocks, including the robbery incident that occured on the 01/07/2025 that involves Maharazu Abdulra’uf, a driver to Alhaji Isah Abubakar, during which they carted away mobile phones and accessories valued at ₦2,803,000,” the command explained.

It added that after further investigation, another suspect identified as Ibrahim Umar (42 years old) of Ngurore, Yola South LGA, was arrested as the receiver of those items robbed from the victims.

“All three suspects are in custody and will be charged to court upon completion of investigation,” the command assured, adding that the state Commissioner of Police has commended the swift action of the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the Bureau, his operatives, and the support of local hunters in combating crime.
