The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has confirmed the arrest of several persons in the Bwari Area Council.

This was following a civil unrest on Friday at Kuchibyi community, under the Byazin Division, over a land dispute.

In a statement on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the Command said it received a distress call regarding the unrest and promptly deployed Divisional Police Officers from Byazin and Kubwa to the area.

She said the officers successfully brought the situation under control

Adeh said, “The FCT Police Command received a distress call regarding a civil unrest incident stemming from a land dispute at Kuchibyi community under Byazin Division.”

The Divisional Police Officers of Byazin and Kubwa swiftly mobilised to the scene and brought the situation under control. Arrests have been made, and an investigation is currently ongoing.

“As mentioned in the video above, it is important to clarify that the issue is a communal dispute and not in any way related to the police. ”

The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Ajao Adewale, condemned the attack on police officers who were responding to the distress call.

He warned that such actions will not be tolerated, saying anyone found attacking security personnel would face the full weight of the law.

“The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, strongly condemns the actions of youths attacking police officers when responding to distress calls.

“He warns that such behavior will not be condoned and that firm action will be taken against anyone who attacks police officers while they are responding to distress calls.”

The Command urges the youth to be law-abiding and desist from acts capable of breaching the peace or inciting violence. The Police remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents of the FCT,” the statement stated.
