A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, has ordered the remand of two men accused of sexually assaulting two women by allegedly touching their breasts without consent and physically assaulting them afterward.

According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on July 6 at Nova Junction, Adebayo area of Ado-Ekiti.

The victims, identified as Oluwadare Oluwatosin and Oluwadare Nifesimi of Ile-Ileri, Adebayo, were reportedly attacked when they raised an alarm after the alleged assault.

Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, the police prosecutor, told the court that the defendants not only assaulted the women but also issued threats to their lives.

He added that their conduct on the said date posed a potential breach of public peace.

The prosecution stated that the actions of the defendants contravene Sections 69(a), 181, and 184(2)(c) of the Ekiti State Criminal Law of 2021.

Defence counsel, Opeyemi Esan, pleaded with the court to grant his clients bail.

However, the request was opposed by the prosecution on the grounds that one of the victims remains hospitalised due to injuries sustained during the attack.

Presiding over the matter, Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun ruled that the defendants be remanded at the Ado-Ekiti Correctional Centre pending further proceedings.

The case was adjourned until July 24, 2025.
