The Federal Government has launched the official digital portal for the forthcoming Nigeria Youth Conference, otherwise called the National Youth Confab.

The confab aimed at engaging young Nigerians in policy discussions and national development.

The Minister of Youth Development, Ayoade Olawande, announced the launch on Monday, describing the initiative as “more than just a conference,” and “a generational turning point, a national movement, and a call to action.”

President Bola Tinubu first announced the planned 30-day youth confab during his Independence Day broadcast on October 1, 2024.

He announced the confab would be held in February. However, it wasn’t until March 10, 2025, that the President officially inaugurated a 44-member planning committee for the conference.

Announcing the theme of the confab as “Next Gen Nigeria: Crafting Solutions, Owning the Future,” Olawande said the confab would be “inclusive, non-partisan and youth-led.”

He said, “It gives me great honour to formally announce the commencement of a historic journey, the National Youth Conference 2025, also known as Youth Confab 2025, with the theme ‘Next Gen Nigeria: Crafting Solutions, Owning the Future’.

“This is more than just a conference. It is a generational turning point, a national movement, and a call to action.

“It is a platform for us to listen, learn, and lead together. Under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the youth confab 2025 will be inclusive, non-partisan and youth-led.

“Now, more than ever, it is time to transform our collective frustrations into solutions and our hopes into actionable policies.”

The minister said the portal would enable delegates to register, contribute, and get real-time updates throughout the time of the conference.

According to him, the confab would be held through multi-level participation, including with young Nigerians in the diaspora, consultation with youths across the 360 federal constituencies, zonal consultations in six states, and finally a national conference in Abuja to harmonise recommendations.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Citizenship and Leadership, Rinsola Abiola, said the delegations would include an equal number of males and females, as well as persons with disability, noting that the confab would offer an opportunity for young Nigerians to vent their frustrations with the government.
