The senator representing the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Ireti Kingibe, appears to have settled her differences with the minister, Nyesom Wike.

On Wednesday, Wike appeared before the joint National Assembly Committee of FCT to defend the N1.78 trillion FCT Statutory Budget proposal for the 2025 fiscal year.

Ireti Kingibe stood up to support the FCT minister’s budget presentation, which she described as ‘well presented’.

Prior to the presentation, Wike and Ireti Kingibe had endured a frosty relationship.

The frosty relationship had led to Wike threatening Ireti that she will lose the support of residents of the FCT.

In 2024, Wike challenged Ireti to hang herself on a transformer if she was unhappy with his performance as FCT minister.

Responding, the senator expressed willingness to work with Wike if the minister apologize to her for his remarks.

She had said: “He doesn’t obviously understand the concept of the FCT, if he did, it is nothing personal.”

However, the lawmaker set her differences with the FCT minister aside during the budget defence.

Kingibe urged the National Assembly to pass the budget Wike presented.

She said: “I as the senator representing the FCT, I want to also commend the FCT minister, Wike. It is a well-presented budget and I ask my colleagues to pass the N1.78 trillion budget as it is.”
