Kebbi military widows deny sexual harassment allegations against top officers

The Military Widows Association, MIWA, Kebbi State chapter, has refuted a report alleging that its members were subjected to sexual harassment by top military officers in Abuja before receiving their late husbands’ entitlements.

Addressing journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, the state coordinator of the association, Hajiya Asmau Noma, described the report, published by some online platforms, as false, misleading, and baseless.

“I was taken aback and dumbfounded by the circulating report claiming that our members were harassed by the military higher command. The story is bogus, fake, and has no iota of truth. We, the leaders and members of the association, completely distance ourselves from such a report,” she said.

Noma added that at no point did the association raise such allegations, stressing that the claims do not reflect the position of MIWA in Kebbi State.

She urged the public to disregard the report, clarifying that the process of accessing death benefits varies depending on the unit the deceased officer served in.

“We don’t go through any strenuous process before receiving what is due to us,” she added.
