Uchenna Ogunedo Akingbade was honoured with the Human Rights’ Champion Award by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Lagos Branch Human Rights Committee. The award recognises her unwavering commitment to the promotion and protection of the rule of law and the rights of indigent Nigerians.
The award was presented during the PDSS Training themed “Protecting the Rights of Pre-Trial Detainees”, organised by the NBA Lagos Branch in collaboration with the Nigeria Police, Legal Aid Council of Nigeria (LACON), and the Duty Solicitors Network (DSN).
This impactful training—coordinated alongside the Vice Chairmen and Human Rights Committee Chairpersons of the Surulere, Eti-Osa, Ikorodu, and Epe Branches—served as a capacity-building session for members of the Human Rights Committees across these branches. It focused on strengthening the administration of criminal justice in Nigeria and reinforcing the role of legal professionals in safeguarding vulnerable populations.
Akingbade expressed her gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed her continued dedication to advancing justice and defending the rights of the vulnerable.
Warm regards,
Uchenna’s Impact Group.
