A police corporal lost part of his left ear after he was bitten by an aggressive Nigerian while attending to a distress call at Metro Prima in Kepong, Malaysia on Friday morning.
According to a Malaysian news website, The New Straits Times, the Kuala Lumpur police chief, Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa, said the foreigner, a Nigerian, was unruly at a private clinic, leading the staff to call the police on him.
He was quoted as saying, “The 10.03am incident occurred when the corporal and his colleague arrived and tried to calm the foreigner down. After several attempts, the suspect, who seemed to have calmed down, was ushered into the patrol car.
“When he got to the car door and was about to be placed inside the vehicle, he suddenly turned and bit the corporal’s left ear, severing it.
“Initial investigations revealed that the 38-year-old suspect is a student at a private college.”
The police chief reportedly added that the suspect has been detained to facilitate investigations.
The corporal involved was also reported to be in a stable condition at the hospital and waiting to undergo surgery to reattach the severed portion of his ear.
