Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested one of the suspects involved in the killing of a popular businessman in Ondo State.
The suspect identified as Ijalo had, on March 1, 2025, shot the businessman Sumaila Awoyinka at his residence in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Olayinka Ayanlade, the suspect was arrested following a discreet investigation.
Ayanlade added that during a search of the suspect’s residence, a locally made pistol, charms, among other things, were recovered.
Following a discreet and thorough investigation, officers of the Command apprehended the prime suspect, one Ijalo ‘m’, on 10/04/2024, an alleged resident of Osogbo.
“The arrest was made after a painstaking manhunt led operatives back to Ore, where a locally made pistol believed to have been used in the murder, along with criminal charms, was recovered during a search of the suspect’s premises.
While commending the spirited efforts and diligence of men of the command, the Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Afolabi, reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the safety of all residents of the state.
Afolabi maintained that no stone would be left unturned in ridding the state of criminal elements, with renewed focus on intelligence-driven policing.
