NBA-SBL Travel, Tourism & Hospitality Committee Hosts 2025 Tourism Retreat & Roundtable in Ibadan

    The Travel, Tourism and Hospitality (TT&H) Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Business Law (NBA-SBL) is set to host the 2025 Tourism Retreat & Roundtable, themed:

    “Repositioning Nigeria’s Tourism and Hospitality Sectors: From Seasonal Hype to Sustainable Prosperity” at Ibadan, Oyo State from 9th to 11th May, 2025.

    According to the Chairperson of the TT&H Committee, Mrs. Chinenye Oragwu, the Committee successfully held its inaugural Tourism Retreat and Roundtable from October 25 to 27, 2024, in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The event recorded an impressive turnout of key industry stakeholders and government representatives, including the Commissioner for Tourism, Ogun State, who delivered the keynote address. Other notable attendees included representatives from the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Creative Economy and Tourism; Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture; the Office of the First Lady of Ogun State; and the Attorney General of Ogun State, among others.

    Building on the success of the 2024 retreat, the Committee will host the second edition in Ibadan, Oyo State.

    Pamilerin Akabunwa, Chairperson of the Planning Committee, noted that the 2025 theme resonates deeply with everyone passionate about these sectors. She states that –

    “Nigeria must move its tourism industry beyond just ‘Detty December.’”

    The Roundtable would feature a keynote address by Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Oyo State, and panel discussions with seasoned experts: Olatunde Busari, SAN, Enitan Rewane, Nnenna M.T. Fakoya-Smith, and Ajibola Ogunkeyede who will dissect the theme and propose actionable solutions. The venue of the event is De Signature Hotels, Ibadan, Oyo State.

    The event would also feature tourist visits to notable sites such as the palace of the Olubadan of Ibadan, the Heritage Museum, Bower Towers, Tunde Odunlade’s Art Gallery, and courtesy visits to industry stakeholders.
