Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Edo State Command, have arrested one Iyayi Omokaro for allegedly hacking his brother, Friday Omokaro, to death following a disagreement on Tuesday.
The command spokesperson, Moses Yamu, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, noting that the incident occurred in Uzalla Community, Uhunmwonde, Benin.
Yamu stated that Omokaro was confirmed dead at the hospital, while Iyayi admitted to committing the crime.
The statement read, “On March 25, 2025, at about 3:30 p.m., a report was received from a camp in Uzalla Community regarding the killing of one Friday Omokaro, aged 38.
“Ehor Police operatives, in collaboration with vigilantes, arrived at the scene and took the victim to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead. The murder weapon was also recovered.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased and his brother, Iyayi Omokaro, 34, had a misunderstanding that escalated into a fight. In the heat of the altercation, Iyayi used a cutlass to hack his elder brother to death.
“Iyayi Omokaro has been arrested and taken into custody for further investigation. He has, however, confessed to the crime and will soon be charged to court.”
