Young Lawyers: The Future of the Bar.
Young lawyers are not just the majority, they are key stakeholders in shaping the future of the legal profession. Their voices, ambitions, and bold steps will determine the next chapter of our Bar.
I commend the NBA Lagos Branch, Young Lawyers Forum, for organizing the Young Lawyers Summit, an impactful initiative dedicated to empowering young legal professionals. I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the conversation on how young lawyers can build prolific careers and stand out in the profession.
The summit was a remarkable success, and with the theme “Breaking the Mold: Bold Moves, Big Impact,” I have no doubt that young lawyers will be emboldened to take decisive steps toward excellence. As the keynote speaker, Onibanjo SAN, aptly put it: “You need audacity to make a difference.”
A few key takeaways from my session:
Introspect and identify your ‘why’—your purpose will keep you focused and fuel your drive to keep pushing forward.
Stay adaptable—unexpected challenges will come, but navigating them with resilience will set you apart.
Networking is non-negotiable—your formative years in the profession are the perfect time to build relationships with peers, colleagues, and mentors. The right network will guide your career trajectory and help you stay true to your purpose.
Communicate your value via appropriate channels and through acts of service.
Be proactive
At the core of it all, this is a reminder to young lawyers: You can be everything you aspire to be, if you have the courage to believe in yourself and take action.
Kudos once again to the Young Lawyers Forum, NBA Lagos Branch for this initiative! The future of the profession looks bright in the hands of bold, ambitious, and purpose-driven young lawyers.
