An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, on Wednesday ordered the remand of a 30-year-old man, Opeyemi Bashiru, in a correctional facility over alleged unlawful possession of firearms.
Bashiru, whose address was not provided, was charged with conspiracy and unlawful possession of firearms.
The Magistrate, Mrs Kausarat Ayofe, did not take the plea of the defendant for want of jurisdiction.
She directed the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
She adjourned the case until May 5, for mention.
The Prosecutor, CPL David Adepoju, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on March 2, at Mokola area of Ibadan.
He alleged that the defendant unlawfully had in his possession two locally made single barrel guns and two live cartridges without lawful authority.
Adepoju said the offences contravened Sections 6(B) and 3 of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, 2004.
