The Body of Benchers is the highest regulatory authority in Nigeria’s legal profession, responsible for the admission of lawyers into the Nigerian Bar and maintaining discipline and ethics within the profession. The appointment and induction into the Body of Bencher is a rare honor reserved for individuals who have demonstrated exceptional service, integrity, and dedication to the legal profession. These prestigious appointments were officially conferred during the Body of Benchers’ event held in Abuja, FCT, on February 27th, 2025, serving as a testament to their unwavering dedication to legal excellence, justice, and the advancement of women’s and children’s rights.
HRH Olori Olufunmi Ajibola-Oluyede and Chief Mrs. Victoria Olufunmilayo Awomolo, SAN, are distinguished and accomplished legal practitioners who have made remarkable contributions to the legal profession, particularly in championing the rights of women and children. HRH Olori Olufunmi Ajibola-Oluyede has demonstrated exemplary leadership, having served as the Chairperson of FIDA Lagos and the Country Vice President of FIDA USA. Similarly, Chief Mrs. Victoria Olufunmilayo Awomolo, SAN, has made significant strides in advocacy, having served as the Past Regional Vice President of FIDA International and currently as the Coordinator of FIDA Lagos. Both legal luminaries have exhibited exceptional commitment to addressing issues affecting vulnerable populations, solidifying their legacy in legal advocacy and social justice.
