The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has presented cheques worth ₦94,555,327.69 to the families of 23 fallen police officers.

The cheques were handed over to the families of the deceased officers on behalf of the IGP by the Commissioner of Police, Zamfara State Command, CP Mohammed Dalijan, during a solemn ceremony on Monday at the Police Command Headquarters in Gusau, the state capital.

At the event, CP Dalijan emphasised that while no amount of money can replace the lives lost, the financial support is meant to cushion the effects of the officers’ deaths on the families.

He noted that the Nigeria Police Force remained committed to honouring its fallen heroes and supporting their dependents.

While sympathising with the beneficiaries, the Commissioner advised them to invest the money wisely in businesses that will help them become self-reliant as they await other entitlements from the force.

He said the gesture was part of the Group Life Assurance and the IGP Family Welfare Schemes aimed at providing financial relief to the families of officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
