Defence Minister Calls for Public Support for Security Agencies

The Minister of Defence, Muhammad Badaru, has urged Nigerians to provide vital intelligence to security agencies to strengthen national security.

Badaru made the appeal on Sunday while addressing journalists at a citizens’ engagement programme organised by the Jigawa State Government in the Birnin Kudu Local Government Area.

He stressed that intelligence sharing remains crucial to tackling insecurity, noting that security situation has improved under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

“The fight against insecurity is a collective responsibility. By sharing intelligence with security agencies, Nigerians can play a vital role in preventing and combating crime,” he said.

The minister reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting troops at the frontline, assuring all that efforts were ongoing to ensure lasting peace and stability.

Commending Governor Umar Namadi’s leadership, Badaru lauded the administration’s rapid development strides over the past 18 months.

The event was attended by Deputy Governor Aminu Usman, former Governor Ali Sa’ad Birnin Kudu, Secretary to the State Government, Bala Ibrahim, as well as traditional and religious leaders.

Badaru also emphasised the importance of collaboration between the government and citizens, saying, “By working together, we can build a safer and more secure Nigeria.”

He reaffirmed the government’s support for security agencies operating in the northern states, adding, “This commitment, combined with the cooperation of Nigerians, will help to achieve lasting peace and stability.”.
