The Kano State Government has extended the deadline for the ongoing recertification of Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) by 60 days.
The new deadline is now set for April 1, replacing the previous date of January 31.
This was announced in a statement by the Commissioner for Lands and Physical Planning, Alhaji Abubakar AbdulJabbar, on Friday in Kano.
The government acknowledged concerns regarding the initial time frame and opted to extend the deadline to provide ample opportunity for property owners to complete the process,” he stated.
The commissioner further emphasized that failure to recertify ownership documents could lead to the forfeiture of property rights under existing regulations.
The recertification process is taking place at the Kano State Geographic Information System (KANGIS) office.
“Property owners are advised to comply within the new time frame to avoid legal consequences,” he concluded.
