Lifeless body of a male adult was on Friday found under the Okefia bridge in Osogbo, Osun State.
It was not clear how the corpse got to where it was found, partially unclad.
But a trader in the area, who simply wanted to be identified as Timothy, said the corpse was discovered around mid-day, prompting a call to some security agents by the people.
Timothy added that personnel of the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps responded to the distress call and were later joined by local government officials at the scene.
Beside the corpse laid a bag containing some clothes.
The spokesperson for NSCDC Osun Command, Kehinde Adeleke, in a statement, explained that after the incident was reported, officials of Osogbo West Local Government were contacted.
Adeleke further said, “Today, December 27, the lifeless body of an elderly man was discovered under the Oke Fia Bridge in Osogbo.
“The incident was promptly reported to the Water and Environmental Sanitation Department of Osogbo West LCDA and the Head of Local Government of Osogbo West.
“Immediate arrangements were made to evacuate the body to prevent further decomposition.”
