Katsina Police foil Kidnap attempt, rescue 10 victims, 2 dead

The Katsina State Police Command on foiled a kidnapping attempt, rescuing ten victims after a fierce gun battle with suspected armed bandits in Katsina-Magama Jibia road

The incident occurred Wednesday evening, December 24th, 2024.

The armed bandits, wielding dangerous weapons, attacked a commercial vehicle, opening fire on the occupants and attempting to abduct them.

in a statement, spokesperson Katsina Police Command, Abubakar Sadiq disclosed that, “upon receipt of the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Jibia swiftly led a team of operatives to the scene, engaging the bandits in a gun duel, successfully foiled the kidnap attempt, and rescued all the ten victims.”

However, ASP Sadiq revealed that four of the rescued victims sustained gunshot injuries during the attack and were rushed to the hospital for immediate medical attention. Tragically, he revealed that two of the rescued victims succumbed to the gunshot injuries while receiving medical treatment at a local hospital.

The Katsina State Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, commended the officers for their bravery and dedication. He urged them to maintain this level of commitment in the fight against crime.

CP Musa also appealed to the public to cooperate with the police by promptly reporting any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
