The immediate past Attorney General of Cross River State, Mr. Tanko Ashang is dead.
Mr. Ashang died Tuesday morning at his residence in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory while preparing for work.
A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Mr. Ashang served as Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice in Cross River between November 27th 2019 and 29th May 2023. Before that time, he served briefly as Works Commissioner between March and May 2015.
Called to the bar in 1993, Ashang was elevated to the rank of a SAN on September 29th 2022, and is listed at number 725 in the order of elevation of Senior Advocates.
He served in different capacities at the Federal Civil Service of the federation, and was the Legal Adviser to the National Emergency Management Agency before his departure to contest the guber primaries of the People’s Democratic Party in 2014.
A native of Busi in Obanliku Local Government Area of Cross River State, Mr. Ashang is also a child of the former Paramount Ruler of Obanliku, Uchua Moses Ashang.
