Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi assumed office on Thursday as the new Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), vowing to combat insecurity and restore peace in Nigeria.

In his maiden address to management and staff, Ajayi emphasized that unity of purpose, discipline, and professionalism are essential for achieving the DSS’s mandate.

He pledged to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to address economic, political, and security challenges.

“I assure you that we will work with relevant stakeholders with utmost commitment and a deep sense of responsibility to overcome the challenges confronting Nigeria’s economic, political, and security environments.

“The objective is to achieve the peace and stability necessary for development,” he stated.

Ajayi succeeded Alhaji Yusuf Magaji Bichi, who briefed him on key issues and handed over the Service’s flag and insignias.

The outgoing DG urged staff to cooperate with Ajayi to ensure a seamless transition.

During his tour of the National Headquarters, Ajayi encouraged staff to remain vigilant, resourceful, dedicated, and loyal.

He stressed the importance of covert operations and strategic silence on sensitive matters.

Meanwhile, the change in leadership is viewed as a strategic move to revamp the nation’s security architecture and address growing concerns about insecurity.

Ajayi’s experience and expertise are expected to bring renewed vigour to Nigeria’s security landscape.
