The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has announced that the suspect accused of raping a 14-year-old girl in Alakuko, Lagos, has been formally arraigned in court.
In a statement released on X.com on Wednesday, the agency confirmed that the suspect has been charged with defilement, contrary to Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The agency also stated that the suspect has been remanded in custody for 30 days, pending the issuance of legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.
The statement read, “Update: The suspect has been arraigned and remanded for 30 days pending the issuance of the DPP’s legal advice.
“He is charged with the offence of defilement, contrary to Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, at the Lagos Magisterial District Court
