In what will come across as a really shocking development, a policeman has been killed in Lagos.

The officer was on Wednesday afternoon killed at Cele Bus Stop along Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, Lagos during a duel with commercial motorcycles popularly known as Okada riders.

The irate Okada riders also carted away three rifles taken from police operatives, The Nation learnt.

Shortly after the officer was murdered, the Okada riders, numbering about 100, ran towards Mile 2 end.

The Nation saw them brandishing cutlasses, daggers, big sticks and other weapons.

They were charging at passersby and motorists.

Many took to their heels to avoid being attacked by the weapon-wielding motorcyclists.

The Nation saw a convoy of policemen, apparently reinforced to combat the Okada riders.

The officers, in about six vehicles, chased the Okada riders towards the Mile 2 end.
