‘Bodily exercise is profitable…’
So says the Holy Book. And, as science has proved over time, one of the simplest and least stressful ways to engage in exercise is to take a walk. The solution to some of the illness-causing tensions that trouble our bodies might be just a short walk or jog. Research has shown that workers who take time for exercise on a regular basis are more productive and have more energy than their more sedentary peers. While busy schedules can make it tough for one to squeeze in a gym session in the middle of the day,for example, some health and wellness experts believe that a well-structured walk programme is the ideal way for a workout due to the body’s circadian rhythms.
The Lagos Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association has kept faith with this paradigm over the years as it has become the tradition for it’s members as well as lawyers from other branches to kick off the Lagos NBA Law Week program with a Health Walk, as members troop out in their numbers as part of the keep fit programme organized by the Branch.
The Health Walk commenced at 5:00 pm from Roundabout By Ikoyi Link Bridge,Off Bourdillon Road to the end of the bridge at Lekki Roundabout and back, it’s terminal point was at premises of Catholic Church Of The Divine Mercy, Lekki phase one.
Led by Mrs Efe Etomi, ChairmanNBA Lagos BranchLaw Week Planning Committee, Mr Dapo Akinosun SAN, Co- Chair NBA Lagos Branch Law Week Planning Committee, Mr Yemi Akangbe, Chairman Lagos Branch, Ebun Adegborunwa and members of the Branch who bared their minds on the significance of the 2021 Health Walk, all stressed the need for people – including lawyers to design a healthy and fitness programme for themselves so as to define their own understanding of being fit.
As with any workout programme, they said, you to start where one can, and progressively work toward one’s wellness goals.
By all accounts, according to NEWSWIRE’s correspondent who monitored the 2021 Health Week, it was an entirely gratifying affair as it helped to prepare participants for the intellectual heavy lifting that would begin tomorrow.
