A 14-year-old boy identified as Abdullahi has died after allegedly being lured and administered a harmful local concoction by a man in Ashaka, Funakaye Local Government Area of Gombe State.

The incident was made public in a post by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Friday through his verified X handle, where he cited police sources confirming the tragic development.

According to the post, the father of the deceased, Usman Dala, reported to the Ashaka Police Outstation that on May 1, 2025, his son Abdullahi and a friend, Hassan Adamu both aged 14 were enticed by one Babayo Adamu from Feshingo community in Ashaka.

The boys were allegedly given a locally prepared substance believed to be toxic.

While Abdullahi died shortly after ingesting it, Hassan Adamu was rushed to the Bajoga General Hospital, where he is reportedly in critical but stable condition.

“At approximately 6:12 p.m., the police received the report and swiftly proceeded to the scene, where Abdullahi’s lifeless body was photographed for documentation,” police sources stated in the report.

“Hassan Adamu was stabilized after receiving emergency medical care.”

The suspect, Babayo Adamu, is currently on the run, and police investigations are ongoing as authorities work to gather more details and bring him to justice.

The case has caused concern within the local community over the dangers of unregulated substances and the increasing vulnerability of minors.
