Law Officers in Nigeria get New Exco
The Law Officers Association of Nigeria (LOAN) has got a new executive council (EXCO) to be led by Yusuf Abdullahi Abdulkadir as President.
LOAN is the umbrella body for State Counsel in the Federal Ministry of Justice and the respective 36 States Ministries of Justice of the Federation.
The recently dissolved EXCO were elected into offices in 2013 and had their tenure renewed for two years in 2015.
In compliance with LOAN constitution, when their tenure elapsed in 2017, an electoral committee was constituted in July 2017 during the delegates conference held in Abuja to conduct a transparent and credible election that will usher in new executive to pilot the affairs of LOAN for the next two years.
The new EXCO has Yusuf Abdullahi Abdulkadir, as President, Joseph Olodiama Jenna from Bayelsa as Secretary while Edomwonyi Earnest Uyi from Delta State as 1st Vice President.
The 3rd Vice Presidents are Ngozi Anuli Iwouno, Adaramolu Gbenga (South West) and Imeh Umofiah (South South). The rest are 1st Assistant Secretary General Adesoji Andrew Afolabi (Abuja) and Abdullahi Wahab Zakari (Kogi) as Treasurer.
In his acceptance speech, new the president, Yusuf Abdullahi Abdulkadir, said he was not oblivious of the challenges faced by the past EXCO of the association and their efforts to surmount same.
“I believe in God, because with God all things are possible, we can do it,” he said.
He also called upon the Sokoto State Governor Tambuwal to consider the demands of LOAN officers who are currently on strike in the state.
