Wike Charges Committee on Befitting Funeral for Aguma
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has inaugurated the state committee for the funeral of the late Attorney General of Rivers State, Emmanuel Aguma.
Inaugurating the committee at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Friday, Wike charged the committee members to ensure that the late attorney general received a befitting burial.
The committee headed by former House of Reps Deputy Speaker, Austin Opara, is charged to plan for Aguma’s burial mid September.
The governor said the committee cuts across different sectors of the state to ensure that all facets linked to the Former Rivers Attorney General participate actively in the burial.
“We are doing this because of his contributions to the growth of the state. That is why we have an elaborate committee.
“All sectors are represented to ensure that we give him a befitting burial. The family, the bar association, works ministry, family, friends, political parties are all involved.
“This is a committee to give our friend and brother a befitting burial. This is a painful thing. Let’s work to give him the last respect.”
Chairman of the State Committee for the Funeral of the late attorney general of Rivers State, Austin Opara, said he wished the committee was for the celebration of the outstanding qualities of late Aguma.
“It is a sad thing that we have to bury him at this time. Your Excellency, we share in your grief. He was not just an Attorney General, he was also your friend”, Opara empathised with Wike.
Opara, a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, assured the governor that the committee would deliver on the assignment entrusted to them.
