Rivers LG Polls: Andoni LG Chairmansip Aspirant Readt to Appeal Rulling of the Tribunal
The Local Government Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Port Harcourt, on 25/9/2018 while delivering its ruling on the motion filed by RISIEC and PDP challenging the competence of the petition struck the petitioner’s petition for non compliance with Electoral laws particularly section 17(1) of the Rivers State Local Government Electoral Tribunals Laws, NO 3, 2000.
The 1st Petitioner Hon. Luke Gospel Luke said though the Tribunal has given its verdict on the petition, they are ready to challenge the ruling on appeal. The Petitioners are optimistic that the decision of the Tribunal will be upturn on appeal.
Hence, the Petitioners counsel, E.S. Ekene Esq, C.F.L. Orikoha, Esq. and Promise W. Ekwueme, Esq have been mandated to proceed on Appeal.
The lawyers to the petitioner said it is true that the Rivers State Local Government Election Petition Tribunal has delivered its ruling, it is not the end of the matter because the petitioners have right of appeal, and they have no option than to proceed on appeal as mandated by the petitioners. They are hopeful that Justice will be done in the matter in as much as judiciary is the last hope of the common man.
