PPA wants Court to Declare Ebonyi Assembly Member’s Seat Vacant
The Ebonyi State chapter of Progressive Peoples’ Alliance, PPA, weekend, said it has filed a suit at the Federal High Court, Abakaliki, seeking the court to declare the seat of Maria Nwachi (Afikpo North) vacant.

In a chat with newsmen in Abakaliki, the state Chairman of PPA, Mr. Onyiba Udeogu, said the reason the suit was filed was because the House of Assembly member, who was sponsored on the platform of PPA during the last general election, was now a member of People Democratic Party, PDP.
He said: “The actions of Maria Nwachi, who my party sponsored to the House of Assembly, were against Sections 106 Sub-Section 1d and Section 109 Sub-section1g of Nigeria’s Constitution, as amended.
“Once there is no division in your party at the national level or there are no talks of merger, a defection becomes a nullity, therefore, her seat will be declared vacant.”
