My Position as Secretary, Best for the Premier Bar – Tochukwu Chukwumerije
I write to formally inform you of my intention to run for the office of Secretary of the NBA – Lagos Branch. 08036704314

Teddy Roosevelt once said, “credit belongs to the person who gets the job done”; when you voted me in as the 1st Assistant Secretary of NBA-Lagos Branch to support the office of the Secretary I learned the qualities that should be expected of the Secretary of the Premier Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association – qualities of leadership, charisma, erudition, integrity, dignity, excellence and competence. I demonstrated some of these qualities when discharging my duties as the 1st Assistant Secretary and also the duties of the very technical office of the Branch Secretary satisfactorily for five (5) months (March 2014-July 2014), after the passing on of our late Branch Secretary Mr. Babatola Apata, during the administration of our emeritus chairman, Alex Mouka. I was able to do just that by the grace of God.
I assure you that if you find my candidacy worthy, and you support me, I would create a secretariat reposition for result oriented service delivery that will guarantee professional growth and capacity building for members. A secretariat that will step up the knowledge sharing session to other professional skills acquisition i.e., project management wherein the secretariat will engage professionals to train our members at a pocket friendly cost.
I was called to the Bar in 2004. I have been in private legal practice since my call date. I worked for the Law firm of Chris Uche & Co (SAN) in Abuja, 2005 as well as the maritime law firm of Mike Igbokwe (SAN) & Co., in Lagos 2007 amongst others. I then established a corporate/commercial law firm under the name Bulwark Attorneys.
I am an active member of the Premier Branch. I served as the Secretary of Human Rights Sub-Committee on prisons and welfare (2009 – 2011). I also served as the last Branch 1st Assistant Secretary (2013 – 2015). At the Nigerian Bar Association, I served as Council Member, Nigerian Bar Association Human Rights Institute (2017 – 2018) and from 2015 to present date being serving as Secretary Nigerian Bar Association Disciplinary Committee Panel “B” for Lagos.
It is therefore with a great sense of purpose and sincere stead- fastness that I put myself forward for the office of the Secretary NBA – Lagos Branch which shall become vacant in July 2019 when the term of the present executive will end.
I am inspired to place my time, energy and resources at the disposal of the Branch for another two years, and to offer the kind of leadership which the Premier Branch definitely needs at this time. I therefore, most humbly count on your support for my candidacy, your endorsement, and your vote on the Election Day.
TOCHUKWU O. CHUKWUMERIJE, LLB, BL. – Candidate for the office of General Secretary, NBA Lagos Branch, 2019-2021.
