PDP Elects Secondus As National Chairman, Adeniran, Dokpesi Reject Outcome
Prince Uche Secondus of Rivers State has been declared victor of the National Chairmanship election of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) after brushing aside challenges from former education minister, Professor Tunde Adeniran and Chief Raymond Dokpesi.

Adeniran and Dokpesi stormed out of the Eagle Square venue of the convention before voting was over. He alleged that the delegates were expected to use the list to determine who they would vote at the national convention of the party.
One of the Chairmanship aspirants, Raymond Dokpesi, while addressing on the development said, that some group of delegates brought a list to him that those behind the list directed to vote for all the aspirants whose names appeared on the list.
Dokpesi said it was unfortunate that a party which was just getting out of a major leadership crisis would be involved in acts of impunity and election malpractice.
He, however, called on the party leadership to urgently rectify what he called an anomaly and a charade before it becomes another major challenge in the party, ahead 2019 general elections.
Similarly, Taiwo Akeju, Director, Media and Publicity of the Adeniran Campaign, called for the cancellation of the entire exercise.
Also, the governor of Akwa Ibom state, Udom Emmanuel, who spoke with AIT, said the “Unity List” in circulation could not affect the outcome of the election. The election has been grossly compromised to achieve a predetermined end.
“Our position is also that this election should be cancelled and the entire leadership of the party should be handed over to the Board of Trustees which we regard as the conscience of the party, to organise a credible election for the party in due course”.
