Oyo State Multi-Door Courthouse to Commence Process of Constituting Panel of Neutrals – Yejide Osunkeye

The Oyo State Multi-Door Courthouse has commenced the process of constituting its Panel of Neutrals and is calling for applications to join the Panel of Neutrals.

Criteria for Admission:  The approved criteria for admission to the Panel of Neutrals as arbitrators, mediators, and/or registrars is as indicated below:

1.1  For Mediators
Persons who meet the under listed criteria are eligible to be considered for appointment as Mediators in the OYMDC Panel of Neutrals:

  1. Persons accredited by reputable international and local training institutions [such as the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR, UK); Negotiation Conflict Management Group (NCMG), Lagos Multi Door Courthouse (LMDC), Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC)] and such others as may be approved from time to time by the Screening and Selection Committee of the OYSMDC Governing Board.
  2. Have paid the prescribed annual fees as set by the Governing Board from time to time.

1.2  For Arbitrators
Persons who meet the under listed criteria are eligible to be considered for appointment as arbitrators in the OYMDC Panel of Neutrals.

  1. Persons accredited by reputable international and local training institutions, such as the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators, London Court of Arbitration, Lagos Court of Arbitration and such others as may be approved from time to time by the Screening and Selection Committee of the OYSMDC Governing Board;
  2. Persons who are members of recognized arbitral institutions;
  3. Prospective arbitrators for the PoN shall not be less than30 (thirty) years old and can show evidence of experience or requisite training as recognized by the Screening and Selection Committee.

1.3  For Registrars and Arbitral Secretaries
The OYSMCH shall maintain a list of persons as registrars/arbitral secretaries and these shall be persons:

  1. who have undergone training as registrar for mediation and/or arbitration with proof of such training;
  2. who have acted as registrar in at least 2 arbitral matters and can produce letters of recommendations from the arbitrators they worked with.

Submission of Applications: Suitably qualified persons should print and complete the attached application form and submit same as follows:

The application form should be accompanied by applicant’s current CV as well as evidence of qualifications claimed.
Annual Retainer Fee:  Successful applicants would be required to pay an annual retainer fee of ₦10,000.00 (Ten Thousand Naira) into Zenith Bank PLC’s Current Account, with Account Number: 1016052085.
