Olukunle Edun v. Speaker, CRS House of Assembly: Ferdinand Orbhi, SAN, Femi Falana, SAN File Notice of Appeal on Behalf of Appellants.

The Applicants have just filed a Notice of Appeal against the judgment of the Federal High Court, Calabar dismissing the suit filed by the Applicants to protect the fundamental rights of Hon. Justice Akon Ikpeme of the Cross River State Judiciary whose recommendation by the National Juducial Council as the Chief of Criss River State was rejected by the State’s House of Assembly allegedly on the ground that she is not from Cross River State.

Olukunle Edun, who is the National Publicity Secretary of the NBA confirmed that prominent Senior Advocates of Nigeria have indicated intention to participate as Appellants’ counsel with Chief Ferdinand Orbhi, SAN and Femi Falana, SAN leading the legal team. This appeal touches on the soul and independence of the judiciary and promises to be watershed and epochal.
