Observers at EBF Quarterly Meeting Deny Reports of Fracas
Contrary to rumours being disseminated in certain quarters, the 2018 first quarterly meeting of the eastern Bar Forum – during which the body formally threw its weight being behind a number of aspirants for national officers in the forthcoming 2018 general elections, and especially that of Chief Arthur Obi Okafor, SAN, for NBA President – did not end in acrimony.

This was the unanimous view of a large number of delegates – members and non-members alike, who converged in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, for the event. On the contrary, said a number of observers from outside the Eastern region, the atmosphere was that of brotherly solidarity among the lawyers, based on the determination to ensure that the East got its due in the larger scheme of things. They urged all Bar members – in the East and beyond – to disregard any story designed to shatter the new spirit of solidarity and common purpose that has enveloped the EBF.
Whatever disagreements arose in the aftermath of the adoptions, they said, had nothing whatsoever to do with the outcomes thereof, and certainly did not degenerate into violence. An incident that took place at the premises of the meeting venue was totally unrelated to the matter at hand.
Therefore, they urged all stakeholders in the growth and development of the Eastern Bar Forum – and indeed the NBA – to disregard such stories of chaos and disorder, and for the perpetrators to desist forthwith.
