Niger Legislators in a Showdown with APC Leadership
A war between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the members of the Niger state House of Assembly seem to be brewing as the Legislators yesterday threw out a letter by the APC Chairman demanding the removal of the Majority Leader, Alhaji Nura Garba.

This development led to a walk out by the Secretary of APC in Niger state, Alhaji Mohammed Liman and other Chieftains of the party.
Wearing long faces of disappointment, the APC Chieftains showed their disappointment over the way the content of the letter was treated and discarded by the Legislators who termed the letter as ‘undue interference’.
The letter which was signed by the APC Chairman, Engineer Jibril Imam asked the Assembly to remove the Majority Leader, Alhaji Nura Garba and replace him with Alhaji Isah Dandodo Ibrahim.
The state House of Assembly is composed of 27 lawmakers out of which 25 of them are elected on the platform of the APC.
When the letter was read, the legislators expressed their unhappiness with the request of their party describing it as “undue interference” in their affairs as they all echoed that they will not accept such interference.
The Legislators cited some sections of the House Standing Rules which prescribed that Principal Officers of the Assembly should be elected by the legislators themselves.
It would be recalled that the House of Assembly has received the letter before they went on recess at the beginning of the month and refused to announce it on plenary, however pressure from the APC leadership lead to it being read in Plenary yesterday.
