NBA Elections 2018: Tech Solutions Providers Reject Charges of Flawed Verification Process
Crenet TechLabs Limited, the company responsible for delivering technology services towards ensuring a successful, fair and credible NBA elections in 2018, has refuted allegations currently making the rounds on relevant social media platforms to the effect that it bears primary responsibility for the difficulties currently being faced by prospective voters in the said elections – a hitch which, it is feared, might result in their disenfranchisement.
Speaking in a phone chat with NEWSWIRE’s correspondent in Lagos, the company’s Founding Partner, Products & Projects, Kehinde Olateru, emphasised that although his organization took over at short notice – following widespread concerns of possible data compromise and jeopardized integrity, Crenet TechLabs has strived to deliver on the ECNBA’ s 3-prolonged approach, namely, verification, voting and audit of votes.
Olateru maintained that the Voter Identification Process, which Crenet set up to address the challenges thrown up by all previous arrangements. He referred in particular to the failure of several NBA branches to forward the names of eligible voters to the Crenet site, upon which the company set up an Artificial Intelligence (AI) solution in a bid to make up for the lack of enrollment numbers.
This, Kehinde Olateru said, has been accomplished in the face of hostile actions by third-party actors intent on compromising the electoral process. With the subsequent engagement of genuine vendors, Olateru assured the Nigerian legal community that, come what may, his company would deliver on its mandate, namely, a free, fair and credible polls worthy of the NBA’s hard earned status as a vanguard in the nation’s quest for a polity anchored on the rule of law, as well as sound democratic principles.
