LEDAP Pledges to Work with Vice Chairmanship Candidate for NBA Lagos Branch Election
A leading non-governmental organization,The Legal Defence and Assistance Project (LEDAP) has pledged to work with Mr. Okey Ilofulunwa, a leading contestant for the office of the Vice Chairman of the Lagos Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association in the forthcoming Lagos bar elections, in his bid to train law enforcement agencies on the tenets of human rights with particular emphasis on the implication of the far-reaching innovations introduced by Administration of Criminal Justice Law
The National Coordinator of the LEDAP, Obiagwu SAN made this pledge during a visit by Ilofulunwa to the offices of the organization.
As provided for by the bye-laws of the branch, the Vice Chairman of NBA Lagos is also head of its Human Rights Committee. Ilofulunwa also intends to create a special forum for all heads of legal departments of law enforcement agencies operating in Lagos, in a bid to create regular interface between the NBA’s Lagos Branch with these key stakeholders in discharging their respective mandates, as well as bridge the gap between lawyers and law enforcement agencies in the task of delivering justice to clients in a prompt and efficient manner.
