A Police source said that the arrest of the accused was ordered by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG in charge of zone 2 Command, Adamu Ibrahim following a complaint by the management of Chalom Suites.

The accused was charged before an Igbosere Magistrate Court, on a two-count charge of forgery and stealing.

Police Counsel, Cyriacus Osuji informed the court in charge No L/13/2018 that the accused committed the offence on 1 December, 2018 at Akiti Avenue, Okota, Isolo, Lagos.

Osuji told the court that the accused used his position as the General Manager of Chalom Suites Nigeria Ltd to steal the sum of N3,000,000 belonging to his employer.

He said that the accused also issued a Heritage Bank cheque valued at N2m to the complainant with the pretext of paying back the money but that when the complainant presented the cheque in the bank for payment, it was rejected on the ground that there was no money in the account.

Osuji added that the offences the accused committed were punishable under sections 289(a) and 321(b) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges in the open court and Senior Magistrate, A.T Omoyele granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Omoyele adjourned the case till 21 March, 2018 for mention and ordered that the defendant be kept at the Ikoyi Prison, Lagos pending when he would fulfill the bail conditions.
