Lawyers to Honour Osinbajo, Education Minister, Appeal Court Justices, Lagos AG, Others
Wife of Nigeria’s Vice President, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo is among eminent jurists to be honoured at the 30th anniversary reunion Dinner & Awards of the Nigerian Law School Alumni Class of 1989. Mrs. Osinbajo is one of the members of the class to be bestowed with honours for distinguishing themselves in their chosen careers.
Billed to hold on Saturday, 30th November, 2019 at the NAF Event Centre, Kado, Abuja the black-tie ceremony will also witness the conferment of the coveted awards on other alumni including the Minister of State for Education, Mr. Emeka Nwajiuba as well as Justice Obande Ogbuinya, Justice Biobele Georgewill and Justice Bilkisu Aliyu, all of the Court of Appeal.
Others are Lagos State Attorney-General & Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Moyosore Onigbanjo SAN; Dr. Babatunde Ajibade SAN; Prof. Andrew Chukwuemerie SAN; renowned arbitrator Mrs. Dorothy Udeme Ufot SAN, and Rivers State Attorney General & Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Zacchaeus Adongor.
According to the Class Chairman, Mr. Emeka Albert, the 30th anniversary commemoration would commence on Friday, 29th November, 2019 with an Anniversary Lecture at the Nigerian Law School, Bwari, Abuja titled, “Legal Education in the 21st Century.” The Keynote Speaker is Professor Ezenwa Ngwakwe, a member of the Class and a Professor of Law at Abia State University (ABSU).
The anniversary lecture will be chaired by the Chairman, Council of Legal Education (CLE), Chief Emeka Ngige SAN, and will also witness the launching of an e-Learning/e-Mentoring/e-Continuing Legal Education (CLE) portal set up by the Class of 1989 to support quality training and retraining of Nigerian Law School students and lawyers, especially young lawyers. Albert said the e-platform “is a first in Africa and will transform legal education and legal practice in Nigeria within a short period.”
Other activities billed to commemorate the 30th Anniversary include charity walk and prison visit. It was gathered that the high-profile commemoration will attract many of the class alumni from within and outside the country who are eager to reconnect with their mates after so many years.
