Goodwill Message to NBA Calabar Branch on her Law Week with the Theme: “Setting a New Agenda for Governance in Nigeria”
I, Obianuju Mary Chukwuma-Okafor (Mrs), with pleasure and every sense of purpose felicitate with the executive and distinguished members of the NBA Calabar Branch (The Doyen Bar) on this occasion of her 2018 Bar Week with ‘2019 in Focus’.
I associate myself with your noble theme “Setting a New Agenda for Governance in Nigeria” noting that a lawyer in our country must be both creative and innovative for effective justice delivery.
Setting a New Agenda for Governance and economic transformation can have a strong disruptive effect on political governance – giving rise, for example, to interest groups that push for accountable leaders and effective institutions. As our country and especially the Bar get richer, more effective institutions also become more affordable.
I believe that over time, new agenda can therefore advance core governance objectives.
I wish all the attendees a meaningful and eventful law week programme.
