Enrolment for Conditional Cash Transfer Begins in Lagos
The enrolment of Conditional Cash Transfer has begun in Lagos.
Following the completion of a four-day training of local government officials for the transfer, Lagos State Government said enrolment of would-be beneficiaries started since last month.
Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment Mrs. Yetunde Arobieke, who spoke at the closing of the training in Lagos, expressed satisfaction about the comportment of the trainers and trainees.
She said that the master trainer and other facilitators were knowledgeable about the job and showed professionalism during the training.
Arobieke said: “I want to use this medium to thank the Federal Government for sending capable hands to us in Lagos State.
“I acknowledge the readiness of the participants that were trained because they displayed high level of enthusiasm.”
Calling on the registered households that are lucky this time to get ready for the proper enrolment, she urged those who are not yet captured to be patient, saying the programme is designed to be continuous.
Speaking about the number of beneficiaries compared with the population of the state, the commissioner said going by the name of the programme, which is ‘Conditional Cash Transfer’, it implies that those who will emerge as beneficiaries must satisfy certain conditions prescribed by the Federal Government.
“This is not a state programme, it is a national programme and there’s no way we can dictate who should qualify.
It is the interest shown in the programne by the governor that is now making people to be aware of this initiative and that’s why we now have many people signifying interest,” Arobieke said.
