Mr. Omoare was dragged before the court by his wife, Toyin, after the former borrowed some money and refused to pay back, hereby seeking divorce, to cover up the said loan collected.

In the ruling, Omoare was asked to pay N500, 000 and also N5, 000 to Mrs. Toyin Omoare by obeying the earlier court order before instituting any appeal.

Omoare had earlier been charged to court in Akure by his wife, Toyin, over allegation that she was forced to incur debt running into millions of naira.

Toyin, had explained to the court, how she borrowed money from microfinance banks in the state to finance the campaigns and political ambition of her husband, Omoare.

Mr. Omoare had been running to become chairman of Akoko South West Local Government Area but failed to secure the ticket of the party during its troubled primaries.

Although, when the case came up in court, the husband denied his wife’s allegation, arguing that she was just a ‘woman friend’ whom he helped at the time of need to secure shelter.

“I came across her in the year 2014, when she needed accommodation and I assisted her to my apartment, we started living together and we were later blessed with a three-year-old girl”, Mr. Omoare said.

The case later took a twist when Mr. Omoare was presented with some documents, after he denied receiving money from his wife, showing his names and signature dates, which corroborated Toyin’s claim.

In his ruling, the president the court, R F Olusanya, ruled in favour of Mrs. Toyin having reviewed exhibits and signatures presented, which were found to be similar and authentic.

Speaking to journalists, Morakinyo Ogele, counsel to the plaintiff, said that the remaining parts of the fund that was worth N4,500,000 would be retrieved from Mr. Omoare at the State High Court as the lower court could not go beyond its jurisdiction.
