Adesina and Akinola Families Unite in Holy Matrimony in Lagos
It was with a mixture of emotions that the eminent Lagos lawyer, Deacon Dele Adesina, SAN and his wife, Mrs. Adesina gave their beloved daughter, the former Ms. Adedolapo Adesina in marriage to her heartthrob, Akintomiwa Akinola.
The lengthy and elaborate nuptials culminated in a glittering engagement and reception ceremony at the Grandeur Event Centre in Oregun, Lagos on Saturday, November 3, 2018.
The occasion was graced by notable members of society from all walks of life. The esteemed presence of the Ooni of Ife, His Majesty, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, added royal gravitas to an already glamorous event. Doyens of the legal professions – including past Presidents of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and other senior advocates of Nigeria were also in attendance.
NEWSWIRE Magazine’s correspondent at the event reports that proceedings began with the formal conclusion of the rites of engagement between the couple, Dolapo and Tomiwa, and their respective families, against the backdrop of ewi (traditional Yoruba poem-song) renditions.
Keenly watched by the Ooni and other assembled royal fathers, the engagement featured a presentation of gifts from the groom’s family to the bride’s, as well as the presentation of the bride price to the bride’s father, Deacon Dele Adesina, SAN. Prayers were said for the happiness, health and prosperity of the newlyweds, their families and their future offspring.
In his response to his in-laws’ tributes and rationale for asking the hand of his daughter in marriage, Deacon extolled his daughter Dolapo as a young lady of unusual compassion and concern for others, especially members of her family. He praised Tomiwa for his love for Dolapo, and expressed confidence in the ability and readiness of the Akinolas to cherish and care for their new daughter in law.
The new Mrs. Adedolapo Akinola (who works as an associate at the Lagos law firm of Udo-Udoma & Belo-Osagie) and her husband thereafter posed for photo sessions with the Ooni, other Obas, family members, friends and well-wishers.
The cutting of the wedding cake was an equally colourful affair.
Thereafter, guests joined Deacon Adesina, SAN and his wife on the dance floor as the musical band belted out a variety of favorites ranging from gospel to Fuji to contemporary hits.
Guests also later joined the newest couple in town for another dance session.
The evening came to a close with a toast to the health and happiness of Mr. Tomiwa and Mrs. Dolapo Akinola, as well as a vote of thanks.
This is wishing the new couple, Mr. and Mrs. Tomiwa Akinola a fruitful married life full of accomplishments, God’s bounties and grace. We also wish Deacon Dele Adesina, SAN and his in laws the blessings of a new bond forged by the love between their offspring, Dolapo and Tomiwa.
